Since joining CEC in 2018, David Cavazos has grown from a service department helper with no prior electrical experience to a key member of the company’s purchasing team.

His journey is a true reflection of hard work, dedication, and a willingness to learn.

David’s typical day revolves around keeping operations running smoothly across all regions. From reviewing emails and requisitions from field teams in Sinton, Capital Projects, and West Texas, to sourcing quotes, comparing pricing and lead times, and placing orders, he plays a critical role in ensuring crews have the materials they need—when they need them. On busier days, his focus is on ordering and coordinating with vendors for quick turnarounds. On slower days, he shifts gears to reviewing invoices, making sure everything is accurate before it moves through the accounting process.

His work requires constant communication and coordination, making him a vital link between the field, vendors, and accounting.

David’s path at CEC began in the field, where he learned the basics hands-on. After about a year and a half, he transitioned to the Sinton warehouse, where he deepened his knowledge of materials and parts. That experience proved invaluable and laid the foundation for his current role as purchaser.

When asked which STRIVE values resonate most, David points to teamwork, reliability, and execution. He emphasizes that none of his work could be done alone—it’s a team effort. Whether it’s answering a weekend call for an urgent order or ensuring invoices are processed accurately, he takes pride in getting the job done right and on time.

Outside of work, David enjoys spending time with family, using weekends as a reset to recharge for the week ahead.
