Tony Coonrod – CEO
Created in 1956 by C.W. “Clif” Coonrod, Coonrod Electric has a proud heritage of providing electrical and instrumentation services to a variety of industrial companies and agricultural facilities including cotton gins and grain elevators throughout Texas and selected sites in Louisiana and Pennsylvania. His son, Tony Coonrod, began working regularly in the family business in 1976. Since 1998, Mr. Coonrod has overseen the day to day operations of the company and took over controlling interest of the company in 2008. Today, he carries on the quality of excellence and dedication instilled by his father and has built around him a highly skilled team of project managers, superintendents, electricians, programmers, installers, and technicians. With the addition of CEC Corrosion Services and the subsequent creation of the parent company CEC Energy Services, Mr. Coonrod has created the ability to better service the needs of both companies’ customer base in the oil, pipeline, and industrial fields. Mr. Coonrod is a licensed Master Electrician in the State of Texas.
Danny Cook – President
Danny Cook joined Coonrod Electric in April of 2012. The introduction of Mr. Cook into the family business marked a strategic turning point at Coonrod Electric as the company positioned itself to take on the increasing demand of the recent boom in the United States Shale plays. His knowledge and experience led to the successful acquisition of CEC Corrosion Services as well as the successful expansion of both companies into the West Texas, Houston, NM, OK and AR regions allowing the family business to further diversify in the oilfield services sector under the accreditive creation of CEC Energy Services as the parent company. Mr. Cook’s previous experience includes over 12 years of both domestic and international business in oil and gas in the Gulf of Mexico and U.S. East Coast, West Africa, Mexico, South America and Southeast Asia. Mr. Cook’s work concentrated on offshore and onshore pipeline construction, operations management, establishing multi-regional offices and business development in the following positions: Operations Manager of OPI International, Director of Operations and Projects for Hallin Marine West Africa (a Superior Energy Services Company), Project Manager for Canyon Offshore (a Helix Energy Solutions Company), Project Engineer for Subsea 7, and Project Engineer/Field Engineer for Horizon Offshore (Cal Dive). Mr. Cook has a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Engineering Technology from Texas State University.
John Sanchez – Chief Administration Officer
Mr. Sanchez joined CEC in 2012 after spending 20 years with the Texas Department of Transportation. His experience includes monitoring, forecasting and developing multi-million dollar administrative, maintenance, and construction budgets, accounts payable and receivable, general accounting operations, safety operations, purchasing, warehousing, information systems, and human resources for the 300+ employees of the ten county Corpus Christi District. Previous titles held by Mr. Sanchez are Director of Administration, Business Operations Manager, Purchasing Materials Administrator, Human Resources Manager, Chief Accountant and Warehouse Supervisor. Mr. Sanchez has a Bachelor of Behavioral Science Degree from Hardin-Simmons University.
Tino Garcia – Director of HSEQ
Mr. Garcia joined the CEC team in 2016 and brings over 35 years of Operations, Health, Safety, and Environmental experience to Coonrod Electric and its customers. In addition to his role as corporate HSEQ Manager, Mr. Garcia is the Operation Manager of the newly formed CEC SafeGuard. His experience includes Operations expertise with Celanese Chemical Corporation and Air Liquide America.
Mr. Garcia’s background as an Industrial Firefighter, Paramedic, and extensive knowledge of Federal and State health, safety and environmental regulations allows him to combine his Safety Professional knowledge with real world experience. This has allowed Mr. Garcia to experience, develop, and implement various safety programs for MarkWest Energy, Lewis Energy, Kanon Services and Buckeye Texas Processing as well as private clients throughout the state of Texas.
Mr. Garcia has completed various safety training courses through the University of Texas at Arlington, Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service, American Safety and Health Institute, OSHA and NCCER. Mr. Garcia is an Occupational Safety and Health Technologist and obtained his degree in Occupational Safety and Health at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, TX.
Arnold Barrera – VP of Business Development & Estimating
Mr. Barrera joined CEC in January 2014 as Director of Operations and Projects bringing over 42 years of industrial electrical knowledge to the company’s management team. In January 2017, Mr. Barrera became the Vice President of Electrical Services and served in this capacity well until accepting his current position of Vice President of Business Development and Estimating in 2019. In this position, Mr. Barrera uses his extensive knowledge and experience to develop business opportunities and project estimates for new construction, rehabilitation, and service projects for the pipeline, oilfield, and petrochemical industries. Mr. Barrera began his career as an apprentice and worked his way through the ranks and has held positions of increasing responsibility such as Superintendent, Project Manager, Estimating Manager and Regional Manager with over 24 years spent at Rabalais I&E Constructors before joining CEC in 2014. Mr. Barrera is a licensed Master Electrician in the State of Texas, Arkansas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma.
Andy Van Blarcum – V.P. Cathodic Protection & Pipeline Integrity Services
Mr. Van Blarcum joined CEC Corrosion Services in December 2014 as our Construction Superintendent and brings over 25 years of cathodic protection, pipeline integrity, and field services knowledge to the company’s management team. In 2016, Mr. Van Blarcum was promoted to Vice President of Operations. Over the past 25 years, he has created internal and external corrosion management programs for multiple operators and has been involved in the design assistance and installation of impressed current and galvanic cathodic protection systems, valve maintenance and operations, pipeline re-coat projects, pipeline integrity and compliance, leak detection surveys, pipeline survey and mapping, and general lease crew services. Mr. Van Blarcum also brings a broad range of experience compiled during his 17-year tenure with Energy Transfer Company where he planned and managed projects of all sizes for multiple integrity projects as a Pipeline Integrity Specialist, Corrosion Technician, and a Special Project Team member. He is also a certified Veriforce trainer with over one hundred operator qualified certifications and is certified in Aqua Wrap installation and instruction, Ultrasonic Testing, Mag Particle / Dye Penetrate and NACE certified in Cathodic Protection. Mr. Van Blarcum also previously worked for Coonrod Electric Co., K&R Compressor, R&R Contractors, J&C Services and is a proud Army Veteran having served his country in Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Stephen Lee Regional Manager WTX / NM Director of Automation – Corporate
Mr. Lee joined CEC in October 2017 as the Instrumentation / Controls Manager for the West Texas office with over 17 years’ experience and now serves as the Regional Manager for the company’s West Texas & New Mexico regions as well as the Corporate Director of Automation. He began his professional career as a Gulf War Veteran as a Special Weapons Technician where he learned Automation and Instrumentation in arming and assembly of Special Munitions. After the military, Mr. Lee went on to work for Superior Optimization, advancing his skills in the oilfield and soon ventured on to a successful entrepreneurship by launching Longhorn Automation and Electrical, LLC, an Automation and Electrical Company. Once sold, Mr. Lee went on to work for Eagle Automation Company where he advanced his skills in developing the automation side with acquiring numerous operators in the Permian. In addition to overseeing the West Texas and New Mexico region, Mr. Lee is currently using his diverse automation and electrical experience and contacts in the Greater Permian Basin contacts to build a reliable and sustainable automation division of Coonrod Electric in this area as well as assist the strategic strengthening of our automation division in the Company’s other core areas of focus.
